This research addresses the image and its relation with modern Arabic poetry because of the significance of the image in poetry.

The image is the core of and the basis for evaluating poetry.

Closely related to poetry, the image gets a more exalted rank than all other expressive tools.

The research attempts to show the significance of the image as an indispensible pillar of Arabic poetics.

Moreover, poetry is the image and the image is poetry itself because a poet lives an experience that begets in his self the ideas and emotions that manifest in the image.

The research hints at the early poetic images of the pioneer poets despite the degree of concern among modern critics.

The research concludes that the richer the poetic image the richer the expression and the more interesting the density.

The image represents the poetic wealth for many poetic texts through applying some poetic models.

The poem may not be exalted to a lively poetic level unless the image has an aesthetic, linguistic manifestation of the idea or the poetic expression that the innovative poets try to convey.

The image is not an aim but a pillar of poetics.
