Abstract EN

This research aims to identify the economical effect of University Education in Jordan, through private Cost?Benefit Analysis (CBA) by finding out the private Internal Rate of Return (IRR).

In order to achieve this, it is important to answer this question: Is private investment in the Jordanian Universities profitable? The answer lies in following sub-questions: 1.

What is the annual average of opportunity cost for the university student in Jordan? 2.

What is the average private cost of studying in Public Universities? 3.

What is the average economical return of studying in Public Universities? 4.

What are the private (IRR) of studying in Public Universities? After obtained the data needed to analyze the private cost ? benefit of the university student in Jordan, and the following means and tools were used, the research revealed the following results are : 1.

The annual average of opportunity cost for the university student in Jordan was JD1826 for four years, JD1859 for five years and JD1891 for six years.

The highest private educational cost in public Jordanian universities was in the medicine college in Mu,ta University (JD6826), and the lowest private educational cost in public Jordanian universities was in the Sharia College in the University of Jordan (JD2767).

The highest expected returns for the Jordanian universities graduate through active life span were realized by the medicine graduate, followed by the engineering graduate.

The highest private rate of return in the Jordanian public universities was achieved by the Agriculture College of Science and Technology University (21.8%), and the lowest private rate of return in the Jordanian public universities was achieved by the College of Medicine ofMu,ta University (9.3%).

As for the decision-making related to private investment in the public universities, the study showed that: Private Investment in public universities is profitable.
