The Algerian theater contains a great amount of borrowed theatrical texts, a proportion that almost surpasses that of the texts that are fully original.
since the emergence of the Algerian theater till today, most playwrights and producers are acquainted and most familiar with other theatrical experiences especially those of western literature, usually with the aim of getting inspiration from their ideas and knowing more about their techniques.
through melting those new ideas and reassembling them in the local circumstances, taking in consideration things that serve out the living realities and things that fit within the mentality of the Algerian audience.
this article aims at shedding light on the aspect of pastiche in the plays of Ahmed redahouhou.
we will focus on the borrowed elements in his play " the queen of Granada" which was originally borrowed from victor hugo's play " ruby blas".
considering this play as one of his most noticeable borrowed texts.
this latter shows his skillfullness in using pastiche.
