The social environment occupying for the individual great importance in his life; where this importance is not limited to the integration of the individual in his network; but also for it’s provide benefits to improve mental and physical health through social support.

Where social support is a real expression of those links and communications and the support that an individual receives from those around him; and it is the most important factor of social psychology that affecting on the mental and physical health in it’s tow dimension preventive and therapeutic.

This article seeks to indicate to discuss the relationship between social support and mental and physical health by identifying the determinants of social support; it’s basic dimensions and the type of support and also the important sources ; the relationship between social support and basic indicators; including self-satisfying responses; and also the aim from it to identify the specifications of social support in the Algerian society and the most important actors and mechanisms that underpinning on it.
