The proliferation of informal settlements is one of the most negative urban phenomena that are facing worldwide.
Several factors have exacerbated this phenomenon in large cities and surrounding areas.
But in recent years this phenomenon has focused much more on small towns and surroundings in the form of settlements or individual residences within the urban fabric of these cities.
In this sense, the city of El Harrouch located north east of Algeria is considered a model for small towns who suffer from this phenomenon that has largely contributed to hamper their urban growth.

La prolifération de l’habitat aléatoire est l’un des phénomènes urbains les plus négatifs dont souffre le monde entier.
Plusieurs facteurs ont aggravé ce phénomène dans les grandes villes et les régions avoisinantes.
Mais ces dernières années, il est concentré beaucoup plus dans les petites villes et leurs périphéries sous forme d’agglomérations ou de résidences individuelles au sein du tissu urbain de ces villes.
La ville d’El Harrouch située au Nord-est de l'Algérie est considérée comme un modèle de ces petites villes qui vivent ce phénomène qui a largement contribué à entraver sa croissance urbaine.
