There are some factors that obstruct the effectiveness and independence of the Permanent International Criminal Court, which are embodied in the form of principles that some countries abide by from one side, and in the form of obstacles by super-power countries that don't otherwise believe in the justice of this court from the other side.

Moreover, super power countries put pressure on the states and exploit international organizations, including the UN Security Council, in order to grant political immunity to its soldiers, in addition to the adoption of international resolutions, and through diplomatic means in order to sign bilateral agreements by exploiting gaps in the Statute of the Permanent International Criminal Court.

It is worth noting that the work of the Permanent International Criminal Court may also be incomplete, as it might be subjected to several problems and obs-tacles, whether due to the nature of the international system and the conflict of interest and priorities of states and members of the international community, or due to the intervention of the United Nations and its organs in the work of the Permanent International Criminal Court through hindering the application of the Statute of the Permanent International Criminal Court, or postponing necessary judicial proceedings under the pretext of the primacy of maintaining international peace and security.

However, the independence of the criminal court does not necessarily mean isolating or separating it completely from other members of the international community, which had been threatened by the most serious international crimes, as the Permanent International Criminal Court is obliged nowadays more than ever to cooperate with other parties and partners in order to achieve its objectives including the United Nations and all its organs, as it is considered as the most important global organization concerned with the interests of the international community and the maintenance of international peace and security.
