Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the role of women in the IHTISAB (which means conducting voluntary religious preaching) by using Social Networks.

To achieve this aim, the study was based on quantitative and qualitative methods.

The study was applied on three purposive samples.

The quantitative method has been applied to analyze the sample of (70) Twitter websites of Saudi women who use to tweet their (real names) or (nicknames).

The qualitative by using method was applied by using the open interview with a purposive sample of (30) women who were collected from three cities (Mecca - Jeddah - Madina).

The study also relied on the content analysis of a sample of E-religious Forums.

The study concluded to some results which was the most important: the presence of noticeable religious activity among the Saudi women through the social networking site especially Twitter and E-forums.

Also there was diversity in that activity where included issues such as religion; family; morality, society; and politics.

Women used many tools that varied between the use of images, audio clips , video clips , as well as articles and twitters.

There are clear differences between users of (Twitter) and (E-forums) and the most important differences were in the language of discourse; the tools that used; and the type of audience.

The study concluded by an important recommendation which was the need for the inclusion of women who have religious activity through social networks under a formal umbrella of a formal organization for monitoring and guiding these activities.
