The study highlights the Saudi journalistic coverage, including news, reports, and journalistic items, for the trials of groups accused of terrorism incidents commitment in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The study sample includes the newspapers of Alriyadh, OKAZ, and ASHARQ AL-AWSAT.

The total number of such newspapers issues examined by the study is 220.

The terrorist groups trials are covered (299) times, with a percentage of 37.8% of the total sample.

This percentage indicates the nature of trials concerning this kind of cases.

However, the study newspapers have paid disparate attention to this topic.

The study shows some findings on the objectives of journalistic coverage made by some Saudi newspapers for terrorist groups trials.

These findings are ordered as follow: S Building awareness of the newspaper audience by reporting, analyzing, and interpreting facts and events.

S Respecting the audience right to know, and forming the public opinion based on facts and sound tendencies.

S Promoting the values combating any prejudice to security and stability, and maintaining community security.

S Taking care not to be a part of terrorist free propaganda that may frighten our citizens.

The Saudi newspapers constituting the study sample pay attention to the subjects of the terrorists trials.

Accordingly, a public opinion may be formed against terrorism in the light of the following points: S The Islamic Sharia innocence from deviant thoughts adopted by terrorists under the umbrella of Islamic religion S The integrity of trials procedures S Affirmation on the judicial independence S Distinguishing between lawsuits raised against accused individuals S Maintaining both the accused individuals rights and prestigious position of judiciary.

For the types of penalties imposed on accused convicts, they are categorized from the most common to the least common as follow: S The financial fine penalty S The execution penalty S The travel ban penalty S The arrest penalty S Arms and ammunition confiscation The total number of charges which the terrorists are indicted with and published by the study newspapers is (46).

The arrangement of these charges is indicated as under: S Joining the terrorist organization “Al-Qaida” in Yemen S Joining the Islamic State Organization “Daesh” and pledging allegiance to its leader S Adopting a takfirism thought that is contradicting to Qur’an and Sunnah S Adopting hostile attitudes toward the state, trying to disparage its prestige, expressing ironical behaviors for criticizing the state policies, and mocking at the state international relations S Inciting to kill security men S Committing offenses against the grand Mufti of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Meccan sanctuary imams, and Council of Senior Ulema.

On the other side, there are some charges that have not been paid attention by the study newspapers; such as: S Justice evasion S Committing abusive behaviors against neighboring countries S Hijacking security officers S Trying to assassinate a region governor S Joining Hasm terrorist organizations S Possession of books approving and calling for takfirism approach adoption For the editing arts that are most commonly used by the study newspapers for highlighting terrorism lawsuits, the study findings show that they are categorized from the most to the least commonly used as follow: S News item S Reportage Interview For the attitudes of contents included in the study newspapers, they are positive with a percentage of 99.3%.

The study analysis doesn’t show any indicators of negative attitudes in the Saudi newspapers of the study.

For the information resources, they are arranged as follow: S The reporter S The correspondent S The other traditional resources For the methods and features of publication used by Saudi newspapers coverage for terrorism cases, the study indicates that internal pages are the most commonly used for covering the events of terrorist groups trials in the study newspapers.

Both first and last pages come on the second disposition.

Therefore, we can say that most security topics are published on the internal pages of the study newspapers.

For the size including full-page coverage for the events of terrorist groups trials, the size is “13” pages with a percentage of (4.8%) of the total publications.

The percentage of the half-page coverage is (4.1%), while the percentage of quarter-page coverage is (9.6%).

For the exhibition elements used for journalistic coverage of terrorist groups trials, the study indicates the following: Pictures: the pictures have been used for highlighting news on terrorist groups trials with a percentage of (16.3%).

The personal photos related to the required issues have been published with a percentage of (45.5%).

Drawings: the drawings are limitedly employed for covering the study subject with a percentage of (4.8%).

These drawings include cartoons, caricatures, infographic images, and graphs.

Headlines: the study newspapers use bold headlines with a high ratio.

Colors: the study newspapers use colors for publishing news on trials.

For backgrounds, the study newspapers have used grey backgrounds on a wide scale.
