Opinions, Beliefs and Popular Terms in the Climate of Iraq Prof.Dr.Salar Ali Khidher Center of Revival of Arabian Science Heritage/University of Baghdad Abstract This research aims to present a range of views and beliefs about the climate that have prevailed spontaneously in the Iraqi society and, whether agricultural or Bedouin communities and even popular communities within cities.

What distinguishes these popular beliefs is their simplicity and their use of short terms, and express the air phenomenon in a simple way that is easy to understand and preserve.The interest of communities in weather conditions is a reflection of the role that climate plays in all aspects of their lives.Despite the evolution of man against climate extremes, climate still has a great impact on man and in various areas of his life.The study found that the most important elements and weather phenomena that concerned the communities are rain due to the drought that dominate large areas of Iraq, and temperature due to Enormous thermal extremes between summer and winter and night and day.
