Abstract EN

In the light of global changes on a world scale, Arab countries are facing many difficult challenges.

In order to confront these challenges, these countries must diversify their economies and, further, broaden their industrial base، not only because natural resources are exhaustible but، also، because export success in world markets are intrinsically oriented towards knowledge economy، the dynamics of which needs a concentration of various economic activities, especially knowledge-based industries (KBI).

It is, therefore, necessary for the Arab countries to build a national innovation systems (NIS) by strengthening the relationship between firms، research centers، universities, and think tanks which would work together to take advantage of global knowledge (assimilating and adapting it to local needs based on knowledge-intensive industry).
