Abstract EN
There was a qualitative shift in the Iraqi-Iranian relations after 2003.
Iran has become a major player in the Iraqi lands at various levels.
It has played an influential role in Iraq and has contributed to maintaining this role and strengthening it continuously through close relations with the political regimes which came to power after 2003, either through closer ties with the political forces influential in the Iraqi land or through the parties that took power in Iraq or through the religious references as well s upgrading their relations economically so that Iran became the most important trading partner of Iraq.
In fact, it can be said that the fall of the former regime made Iran the regional player of the region and made it the strategic rival of the United States.
The events in Iraq after 2003 allowed Iran to be the force or country to be reckoned with, especially by the Arab Gulf states.
