Abstract EN

the purpose of this study was to investigate the levels of mental health, anxiety and depression among residents of Zayed family care house in the united Arab emirates based on some demographic variables (gender).

the sample of the study consisted of (73) individuals who live in Dar Zayed for family care, in al ain and Abu Dhabi.

tools used in this study were beck depression inventory (BDI), state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) , and general health questionnaire (GHQ).

results showed that individuals who had increased levels of anxiety and depression (moderate to severe) among the study sample, which was (28.7%) from individuals who had moderate to severe depression and (61.6%) for those who had moderate to high levels of anxiety.

furthermore, there were (1.4%) from residents of Zayed family care house who had low levels of mental health and its dimensions (psychosomatic dimensions (6.9%) freedom from anxiety(19.2), efficiency of social functions (16.4%) and freedom from severe depression(8.2%).

results also showed that differences in means of mental health and its dimensions (psychosomatic, freedom from anxiety and efficiency of social function) were significant between males and females.

according to anxiety and depression, the results did not show significant differences between males and females.

the current study recommends future research related to residents of family care houses in the united Arab emirates that looks at others variables.
