Abstract EN

The present study sought to identify the effect of both sex and age on early maladaptive schemas in a sample of secondary school students.

it also aimed to reveal the most prevalent schemas among the students.

for this purpose, young schema questionnaire was administered to a sample of (180 students), who were selected in a simple random sampling from secondary school students in the city of el oued.

the results showed that the most common schemas among students were: unrelenting standards, hyper criticalness, abandonment, instability and self-sacrifice.

there were also statistically significant differences in the early maladaptive schemas due to gender, while there were no significant differences in the early maladaptive schemas due to age.
