Abstract EN
The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of emotional intelligence in a sample of outstanding and nonoutstanding students in the schools of Karak / Jordan and its relationship to academic achievement.
To achieve this purpose, Bar - ON Model of emotional intelligence has been used.
Validity and reliability were obtained.
The study sample consists of (100) students, 50 of which were outstanding students who were selected in the way available from King Abdullah II School for Excellence, and 50 non-outstanding students who were selected by random cluster method from Prince Hassan High School and who registered during the academic year 2017/2018.
for the purposes of the study, the descriptive correlational approach has been used, after analyzing the collected data, the study concluded that the level of total emotional intelligence and its dimensions among outstanding and non-outstanding students is high, except the general mood dimension which is intermediate for non-outstanding students, and also there is no correlational relationship between the level of emotional intelligence and academic achievement for outstanding and non-outstanding students.
In light of the mentioned results, a number of recommendations were suggested.
