The issue of Sociology of Education and its relation to sociology has been questioned.
Other questions related to the characteristics of Durkheim's moral education and the nature of the Socio-historical context of Durkheimian educational thought and the functions of education in society.
The birth of Sociology of Education as a scientific branch responds to a number of challenges posed by social development In the wake of the Industrial Revolution and against the backdrop of the great social transformations witnessed by human societies from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day.
Emile Durkheim is an important reference in the establishment of the "Sociology of Education" in Europe.
He first declared the need for a sociological approach to the study of education in the late 18th and early 20th centuries.
He applied the sociological approach in the study of education as a sociological phenomenon, And questioning its role in social balance of social institutions (such as the family, school ...) through ethics or so-called "moral education", through which the social character of education, contrary to the individual visions that prevailed in his time.
