Abstract EN
This study sheds the light on the phenomenon of the author’s multiple editions of his book by defining the scientific concept of the term: “editions” and describing the major pillars and basic conditions of that concept.
The study also clarifies that any kind of revisions or modifications cannot be considered a self edition if the emendations were not done by the author himself.
On the other hand, the research paper states the common terms which were used in heritage books to express the meaning of the term: “new edition of a book” and clears up how to make the difference between this term and other terms such as: summarizing, narration, interpolation, counterfeiting, and filling the manuscripts’ gaps.
To sum up, the study attempts to give an exact scientific concept of the term and elucidate its scientific standards and conditions to avoid any kind of confusion with other terms and gain the ability to decide whether the book had multiple editions or had not.
