Abstract EN
The study aimed to identify the concept of academic guidance from the perspective of female students and academic mentors at the faculties of Al-Kamil, Jeddah University.
As well as to identify the actual practice of academic guidance and the difficulties faced by guiding process.
The study followed the analytical descriptive method and used the questionnaire to achieve the goal of the study.
The study consisted of three axes: the first axis was the concept of academic guidance, which included three phrases.
The second, axis was the actual practice of academic guidance, which included 27 sentences.
The third axis was the problems of academic guidance, which consisted of 16 sentences for female students, 20 sentences directed to female teachers.
The sample of the study consisted of all 16 female mentors and a random sample of students in grades 6, 8 and 10 in the faculties of 193 students.
The percentages, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation were used to analyze the study data.
The results showed the weakness of the female students and the academic mentors in the sense and the purpose of the academic guidance as well as the presence of many obstacles that hinder the work of guides.
The study identified the main obstacles to the extension and provided a set of recommendations for the development of the extension process.
