Abstract EN

This paper deals with the topic of ethnic federalism in Ethiopia during the issue of ethnic and regional structure and nature of the political system after the fall of the Derg regime and the arrival of the revolutionary group to liberate the Ethiopian peoples to rule in 1991 and the adoption of federalism as a system for the administration and rule of the country in 1995.

The paper focuses on ethnic situations, change in the nature of the political system, and the project of the collective identity of all Ethiopia.

The paper concluded that there are several challenges facing the experience of ethnic federalism, the most important of which is the weakness of the financial institutions and the contradiction between the constitution and the application, especially with regard to the distribution of financial resources between the center and the regions with broad powers of the prime minister, which reduces the powers and authority of the Federal Council, which requires further review and evaluation of the experience of ethnic federation in Ethiopia.
