Abstract EN

This study aimed at investigating and analyzing aesthetics of sculpture and its impact on the Islamic architecture in Sudan taking into account the aesthetic values of various types of carved decoration whether plant or engineering or calligraphy that were formed or executed by employing the relief sculpture approach on the walls of the mosques in Khartoum.

therefore, the research sample comprised of all the formations of relief sculpture on the walls of the mosques that were about (55 works), as such a purposive sample was chosen, which was non-portability that consisted of five works representing all the features of the study population.

the descriptive-analytical method was used to come up with the holistic theoretical framework on the aesthetics of relief sculpture and its impact on the Islamic architecture.

the research samples were analyzed.

the study arrived at the findings, more importantly: making use of the outer appearance of the formations of decorations and presenting it in form of relief sculpture within the empty spaces on walls avoiding imitation and three- dimensional figures matching the Islamic teachings that encourage decoration.
