Abstract EN

Since the pragmatic discourse, in its general challenge, is based on the idea of functionality of a special kind of communicative and informational dimensions.

This article focuses on a Sufi discourse that has cognitive, intellectual, philosophical and linguistic qualifications that make it compatible with the nature of pragmatism.

Ibn Arabi is chosen, in this research, through his book “The Commandments” which includes Sufi and spiritual dimensions in conformity, to a large extent, with the dimensions advocated by pragmatism in some of its theories.

This led us to apply several pragmatic procedures on some texts selected from the Commandments’ book of Ibn Arabi, considering a pragmatic approach to come up with justification for this kind of intersection between the contemporary pragmatic discourse and the Sufi discourse
