English Abstract

The research aims at showing the position of libraries in Andalusia at the Umayyad Caliph as well as the intensive care and concern that they had acquired, not only for men but also women had the great share, besides their participation in having the scientific books, where some of them have had their own libraries, and this refers to their great will to have knowledge and be familiar with the scientific publications.

Moreover, the great relationship between books and libraries which were attached with publication, copying and bookbinding.

This research also tries to know the types of libraries at this era which is under study, their content of books, who run them and their role, as well as the main aims of their construction and care, it is worth mentioning to refer that we have made Al-Hakam Al-Mostansir’s library as a model for libraries at the Umayyad era for considerations which made us to stand alone in.
