English Abstract

The historians used to consider the Atabki period in Mosul (521 AH.-631) as the most prosperous period in its long history.

This prosperity didn’t shape in financial terms only, the Intellectual field had the upper hand in this renaissance.

The establishment of the centers of learning in Muslim east was the achievement of the Saljuki vezer Nizam Al- Mulk.

Mosul as one of the main cities in the Abbasid states had its substantial share in this regard; During the reign of the Zengids many Madrassas are built there, some of them by the governors themselves, others by their relatives, and the notable families of Mosul.

In this paper we manage to examine the role of Madrasa in the intellectual history of Mawsil during the Atabiki period, their teachers, curricula, buildings, endowments, etc.

We use the analytical method and consulting the main sourses of the period to give a faithful picture for that great.
