The Algerian folk narrative reports that Sheikh Abderrahmane at-Thaâlibî dedicated her life to the education of women and the defense of their dignity, to the point that it is said that Sidi Abderrahmane "spent his mornings teaching a thousand boys, and his afternoons to a thousand girls.

" Starting from the principle that the popular narrative contains a part of truth as relative as it may be, can we assume that the popular representation describing at-Thaâlibî as a "feminist" rests on some truth? Let us pose the problem differently: would there be in the works of at-Thaalibi what would confirm this idea, or at least indicate to us that the sheikh has adopted a positive position with regard to the woman? There is no doubt that the analysis of the work of at-Thaâlibî remains the best way to determine the place of the feminine in its mystique (chapter 1), and to lift the veil on its opinions on a number of legal questions relating to women ( chapter 2).
