French Eastern historiography has focused on the theme of Algeria in the Ottoman era on specific issues in order to distort the image of the Ottomans, while refraining from dealing with other problems that had occurred.

during this period, such as external relations, the state of the economy, trade, cultural and scientific aspects.

Among these issues are the question of the abolition of the Algerian state before the French occupation in 1830, the question of piracy and the question of prisoners, as well as the question of internal conflicts.

This produced a French historiography based on political and ideological history.
