Abstract EN

There are four elements making narration:characters, time, place or space and the narrative function.

One of these most important elements is space… I devoted this study to the connotations of element space in both novels "The book of sand" by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges and in "Twelve Tales Pilgrims" by Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez، that I started by an introduction in I showed the importance of space in general، then I set the spaces in which the two studied corpuses’ events took place.

Then Idivided then into two subconstituents that dealt wich the connotations of space in"The book of sand" and in "Twelve Tales Pilgrims".

I arrived to the conclusion that both narrators have used two kinds of contradictory and complementory space in the some time…
