The research deals with the formal religion process in the colony of Virginia, before and after the American Revolution.
Thomas Jefferson and his colleague James Madison, had great contributions to the foundation and adoption of the legal version of The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom 1786.
These efforts were first formulated in the continuing appeals for the disestablishment of the Church of England, and succeeded in making religion and the sectarian beliefs a special matter to the people, In isolation from the power of the civil authority.
