Abstract EN

The aim of the current study is to preserve the traditional knowledge, since it’s representing a living heritage.

This attitude creates a discipline behavior, which preserves communities’ culture.

Traditional knowledge considered a distinctive expression of spiritual cultural and civilization of indigenous peoples, in addition to local groups in different countries.

These communities were protected by the international environmental and cultural conventions, led by United Nations (UN), such as the convention on biological diversity (1992), and combating desertification (1994), and the intangible cultural heritage Convention (2003).

World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), support the effort to preserve traditional knowledge, and the intellectual property rights, in order to give legal protection, and ensure the rights of traditional knowledge, in gaining the benefits for the communities, using marketing, improving and developing the traditional knowledge.

All these efforts were combined to prevent or loss the traditional knowledge.
