Abstract EN

This paper tries to spot light on the role of Mohammed Hussein Heikal in the renaissance of literary and criticism , and to identify his intellectual tendencies and his critical views as one of the pioneers in literature, thought, politics and society.

Heikal played a distinguished role in the literary renaissance that Egypt experienced in the first half of the twentieth century.

In fact, he was not just a critic who devoted his creative energies in the field of literary criticism, but also he was a scholar of thought , literature , and politics.

Furthermore, he tried to vary in production of literature, thought, politics and journalism.

In addition, he was considered as one of the pioneers of modern intellectual renaissance.

This paper sheds light on some aspects in Heikal's views in the intellectual structure and some of its literary criticism and critical orientations which reflect the extent of interaction between the creative self and the reality in which this creative self lives.

Moreover, his thoughts in criticism were influenced and interacted by the data through his book (Fi Awkaat AL Faraaqh /At Leisure Time).
