Documenting institutions, nowadays, tend to digitize their accounts, as the digitization process enables various services, both for the beneficiaries and Subscribers, through which it becomes easy to control the huge number of documentary accounts.

But at the same time, these projects need qualified human resources and a strong infrastructure to achieve their objectives The preservation of digital entities in digitization projects is considered as one of the most important elements of an integrated digital system.

However, the procedures and techniques of this process require some technical efforts, both in terms of hardware and software, or in respect of the documentary accounts involved in the digitization process.

Therefore, responsible for such projects must rely on the technical standards that concern the process of digital preservation and conservation methods and procedures that ensure the preservation of digital entities for the long term.

As the digitization projects in Western countries are the first in the application of information technology in their documentation institutions.

In this paper, we aimed to study the procedures and techniques of preserving digital entities in the Canadian Library and Archives through an analytical study of the Canadian Digital Strategy that was developed by the Canadian Government to digitize and preserve its hereditary documentary to make it available for the long term.
