Abstract EN

In the past ten years, the city's problems and land use have begun to appear, due to the large population increase.

This requires a different form of building blocks and spaces, and this is adopted by Un-Habitat.

Five principles were proposed for achieving sustainability in the neighborhood These principles are: mixed land uses, high and mixed population and population density, adequate space for streets, efficient road network, integration of society, and the use of private land.

These principles achieve three ideas: integration, compact and communication.

Hence, the aim of the research was to identify new ideas for the planning of the residential area and the possibility of its application in the Iraqi city.

The research will examine the five principles in detail and analyze them, and study the possibility of applying them in the current and future Iraqi city.

The most important conclusions reached were: -Some principles can be applied in the present city, such as promoting public transport, allocating sectors using individual housing.

- Some of them can be applied in future cities to be difficult to achieve in a short period, such as the identification of tracks for bicycle and horse, re-reliance on the center of neighborhood and re-distribution of land use rates to achieve ( - )%) commercial,( - )% residential, ( )% The most important recommendations: - Directing the bodies responsible for the planning process in the Iraqi city represented by the Ministry of Planning and its departments in the provinces of the departments of urban planning, the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Environment.
