The current study aims at identifying the cognitive emotion regulation strategies among university students in accordance with age and sex variables.

The study also aims at identifying the significance of differences in cognitive emotion regulation strategies among university students in accordance with age and sex variables.

The sample consists of (240) male and female students.

To achieve the study aims, the researcher adopted the cognitive emotion regulation strategies by Garnefski et al (2001) which has been translated and rationed into Iraqi environment by Al-ganem and Al-Noori (2003).

The scale consists of (36) items distributing to (9) strategies.

The scale reliability is about (0.79) through Cronbach's alpha and about (0.68) through split-half method.

The results indicate that: 1- There are significant differences in accordance with age variable for all strategies in favor of 23 years.

2- There are no significant differences in strategies in accordance with sex variables.

3- There is variation in strategies growth: - (self-blame, acceptance) among males of (21) years and among females of (23) years.

- (acceptance, reappraisal) in age of (19) years.

- (focus on though, catastrophizing) for both sexes in age of (21) years.

- (putting into perspective) among males in age of (19) years, and girls in age of (21) years.

- (other-blame) for both sexes in age of (23) years.
