Adonis makes an important part of our contemporary poetry, for he is considered as one of the few poets who have linked, in their literary journey, between poetry and prose.

The most important thing he has ever done is that he has been able to formulate the poet's mission in a new way, and his writings have harmonised with his views and his ideas about creativity.

In his works, Adonis focused on the symbol, the employment of history, myth, and Sufi heritage, and was free in the use of metaphor.

His experience was a battle for beauty, freedom, and progress, with great boldness, and naked frankness.

Adonis believed that modern poetry is a "vision," rebelling against the old forms and methods of poetry, and rejecting its attitudes, and techniques that exhausted its purposes.
