Abstract EN

The study dealt with nearly two centuries of British policy towards the state of Tripoli the West in the context of the British tendency to impose its influence on the Mediterranean trade and the relationship between this state and Britain swing between peace and war and the naval battles between the parties often burst out on the coast of the state because the British merchant ships were exposed to pirates.

Although Tripoli was part of the Ottoman Empire, it did not follow all the directives issued there.

The Captain of the Sea did not follow the peace and trade agreements concluded between Tripoli the West and with Britain.

That is why the relationship between them continued to fluctuate because of political instability within the state.
