Abstract EN

Translators, while conveying the meanings of the Holy Quran into French, are concerned with the pragmatic effect of the speech acts that contribute to the production of meaning.

However, the meaning to be translated in the context of the speech acts, forces translators to go beyond words to reach the purposes and ends.

In this sense, we raise the following problem: how can the theory of the speech acts be invested in revealing the role of the speech act in the production of meaning and translate it in the Quran discourse into French? This article concentrates on the theoretical aspect of the speech acts theory as well as the conditions of extracting meaning from the speech act, and then what is the meaning of the speech acts in the Quran discourse We chose as corpus "verses of the Quran" from El-Bakara (The cow) chapter, and we are relied on three famous translation.

These translations are analyzed and compared to what is said in the Quran interpretation books.

We find that the speech act has direct and contextual performative forces to which translator should give full importance in order to convey honestly the signification of the speech acts to the target language.
