Abstract EN

The oil price crisis of 2014 has shown the fragility of economies, that rely on this single resource to build and formulate their economic strategies, And not to rely on other mechanisms and policies to diversify its economy, This study aims to highlight the importance of adopting the policy of economic diversification, especially for the oil countries , In order to reduce the various external shocks that could be exposed and affect the balance of their economies, Where the United Arab Emirates is among the countries that have been able to adopt the strategy of economic diversification, By transferring from the oil economy to a competitive knowledge economy.

The study concluded that this strategy was embodied in the national agenda for the vision of the UAE 2021, which included several axes: access to a high-level educational system, adoption of the National Innovation Strategy, formation of the National Commission for Innovation, adoption of the Higher Policy in Science, Technology and Innovation, and the establishment of the Emirates Space Agency.
