Abstract EN

This study is concerned with the exploration of syllable structure in the verses depicting scenes of Day of Judgement in the Holy Koran.

It deals with the changes that take place on syllable structure due to some processes like addition and deletion; so the syllable structure is changed according to the syntactic structure and a new structure emerges.

The study concludes that this change is brought about for semantic and phonological reasons.

It then sheds light on the many kinds of change: one kind is where the two structures are similar semantically and another where they are similar structurally but opposed semantically.

A still third kind is where they are similar structurally but not opposed semantically.
