The ancient people thought about immortality since ancient times.

It was expressed through epics and religious stories.

The first written sign for it appears in the Epic of Gilgamesh.

The biography of”Gergis” and “al Khidr” in the Arab sources is related to the biography of heroes and prophets sent from death.

Girgis’ identity remains a subject to multiple theories; the figure of “al Khidr” occupies a prominent place in Islamic legends and stories.

His biography is related primarily to the “cave Soura” of the Quran.The problematic of this article is about the definition of the relationship between “al Khidr” and “Gerges” considered as two different personalities according to the written sources.

In popular tradition, they have common qualities, notably immortality and fertility
