In August 9th, 1961, the United Kingdom asked to join the European Economic Community by government decision, and, in June 23rd 2016, UK reconsiders its membership in European Union by a referendum in which the British people voted to leave the EU, this result has many implications on the EU as a political and economic united pole, as well as the European and international standing of the United Kingdom.

In our study we try to examine the opportunities and the challenges of eventual Brexit – British exit for both EU and UK, then, the possible future directions of the EU between the dislocation and continuity.

It concludes that, despite the lack of consensus in the vision, and UE͛s strategic objective, the decision of the Brexit is irrational strategically, financially and economically on both sides.
