This article deals with the Algerian policy of protection of the marine environment, focusing on the environmental dimension of the national spatial planning scheme which aims to reduce environmental damage in the coast in general and the marine environment in particular, for this we first emphasized the importance of the sea, then the dangers that threaten it in Algeria, then the role of the SNAT in the protection of the marine environment by focusing on the stages and the circumstances of its formulation finally It has been noted that the protection of this environment is a multi-sectoral and multidimensional domain, but it remains to review its guidelines, especially the one concerning the braking of littoralization and the repositioning of the institutions, without forgetting the importance of the evaluation because the Algeria today needs rational and measurable policies.
