Abstract EN

This study puts the emphasis on the role of the third sector in social work.

I deal with a specific case-study, which is the Algerian case.

Hence, the phenomenon of the third sector role in integrating the young people to realize local development will be highlighted.

The Algerian civil society institutions have an important value including several levels, especially when it comes to social work concerning the the youth.

Many ideological trends and current social philosophies, which are related to social work and to development processes, affirm on the importance of civil society institutions to integrate youth people as an important locomotive to enhance the local development process.

But what is noteworthy here in the developing countries like Algeria, is the negligence of the civil society institutions role in this development process.

These institutions have been charged with a marginal tasks and feckless role like those concerning the elections for instance, on account of crucial development challenges like the unemployment issues, facing up poverty and involving youth for realizing local development.

In conclusion, the paper points out the need to enhance the role of civil society institutions in Algeria in social work, especially when it comes to integrating youth in the development process.
