This article addresses Western and Israeli interests in the division of Sudan and the means used to achieve them.

It implies the following sections: the geostrategic importance of the Sudan, the Western and American strategic objectives in Sudan, the Western means to achieve the secession of South Sudan.

The study concludes that the secession of southern Sudan and the strong international and regional scramble for the fragmentation of the Sudan has been fueled by many strategic, economic and security factors, making it closer to an attempt to divide the Sudan than a mere independence of a territory achieved by a liberation movement
