Abstract EN

This research aims to identify the methods of managing the foreign exchange reserves in Algeria and the mechanisms used in the process of hedging against the decline in the real value of these reserves and depletion in light of fluctuations in the exchange rate of the dollar against major currencies, especially the euro as the currency used to evaluate the prices of goods and services.

Despite the positive of precautionary measures taken by the Algerian authorities through the mechanisms used to manage and employ foreign exchange reserves, they remain insufficient, given that there are many hedging instruments that the Bank of Algeria could use as currency swap mechanisms centralization, exchange rate swap, and interest rates applied bay most central banks of developed countries.
