Abstract EN

This study aims to assess the environmental policy in Algeria through two criteria: the stability of the environmental protection bodies and the integration of tools used to implement the environmental policy during the period (1970-2018).

The historical approach has been used to show the various bodies that took over the management of the environmental sector, as well as to monitor the most important tools used to implement environmental policy.

A descriptive approach was used to extrapolate data on the development of the environmental situation in Algeria as a reflection of environmental policy.

We found that environmental conditions did not improve as required despite the efforts exerted by the State.

This is due to the lack of control over the implementation of environmental policy in first, despite the existence of an important combination of tools ranging from economic, organizational, educational and voluntary ; in addition to the institutional instability of the environmental responsible authority during the period of study, except when it was combined with territory planning authority.
