Trademarks, as intellectual property rights, are of great importance for national legislations that are based on international conventions, notably the Paris and TRIPs Conventions.

These conventions serve as the backbone of all countries in setting rules and regulations in the form of common regulations, so that countries wishing to join them must adhere to the minimum set limits therein.

The registration of trademarks is one of the provisions of the two conventions and it has received considerable attention by national legislations as a form of previous censorship undertaken by a competent authority that has been organized by Jordanian and UAE legislators and has been given full authority to achieve the goals it was set for.

Provisions went beyond registration to include protection of the trademark internationally to prevent the similarity of more than one brand even in many countries, as embodied in the Madrid Convention on the International Registration of Trademarks.

The implications of this procedure become visible when an inconsistency or a conflict is spotted in the registration of trademarks caused by the intermingling of more than one brand in the same label.

This brings to the surface the question of protection and the preceding question regarding the connection of registration to the trademark ownership itself.
