Abstract EN

Air traffic has characters that other means of transport do not have, including speed and safety.

However, the excessive use of these means made them vulnerable to a range of criminal acts that sought to harm the aviation sector and expose it to vandalism, hijacking and detonation.

Crimes against aircrafts varied and multiplied considerably, including the unlawful seizure of aircrafts (hijacking), as well as air piracy, aircraft blowing up, and aircraft assault by means of sophisticated weapons.

There are also many factors that greatly contributed to the outspread of such crimes, including cases of political instability, weak security systems in developing countries, and the lack of common international conventions aimed at the handing over of criminals.

Accordingly, we divided this research into two main parts.

The first part discusses the types of crimes committed against aircrafts where emphasis is placed on aircraft hijacking, aircraft detonation and air piracy.

The second part focuses on the factors that favor such criminal operations against aircrafts, including, emphatically, political instability in developing countries and cases of weak security at airports
