Abstract EN

The study aims to evaluate the impact of oil price fluctuations on government subsidies to the housing sector in Algeria during the period 1986-2017.

Using the Vector autoregressions approach.

The study found that there is a causal link between the two variables.

Where the housing support response to the oil shocks be negative in the short term and positive in the long term.

In order to reduce support costs and diversify housing finance sources, a number of effective alternatives have been proposed.

These include refinancing mortgage loan through securitization institutions, encouraging mortgage lending from public or private banks, adopting Islamic housing finance.
