This study is designed to shed light on one of the alternatives to the diversification of the Algerian economy, represented mainly in tourism as a way to revive the economy, which is not the least important economic resource for the rest of other economic sectors, especially in light of fluctuating oil prices, We will try in this study, a statement of fact and the role of tourism in economic development in order to achieve sustainable development in Algeria, and clarify the important and the economic dimensions of tourism as an integrated industry, are intertwined with several sectors contribute in the economic and sustainable development alike.

The analytical descriptive approach used in work to understand the phenomenon and to answer the problem of study and access to its objectives.

The study found several results like the application of the concept of sustainable development plays an important role in the development of the tourism sector in Algeria by preventing environmental degradation and the development and sustainability of the resources, in addition, the results of the study showed that the contribution of the tourism sector in the Algerian economy is weak and remains without the desired level compared with available potential and live up to the level of ambition of the state despite all the efforts made in this sector.
