Abstract EN
This paper examines the impact of trade openness and foreign direct investment (FDI) on population health measured by mortality using time series data over the period of 1970–2016.
We have applied the Bound Test as well as co-integration tests among the variables.
The empirical evidence confirms the presence of co-integration amid the variables.
Moreover, trade openness and FDI increase the mortality rate in the long-run.
Furthermore, the analysis suggests that trade openness has a weak effect on mortality in the short-run.
While foreign direct investment does not have the impact on mortality.
These findings have many benefits for policymakers to reconsider policies of openness to the outside world and investment.
