Abstract EN

The article aims at highlighting the importance of using modern linguistic knowledge for teaching the grammatical rules of Arabic, compared to currently used traditional grammars.

It also analysis the negative impact of this traditional analysis and inadequacy in terms of content and methods.

The article focuses on investigating the Arabic tenses and aspects characteristics in terms of modern linguistics frameworks that describes the ways temporal, aspectual and modal categories are expressed.

The article establishes the inadequacy of traditional grammatical descriptions, given the evolution of language, as well as the constant progress made in describing it, and renewing teaching methods.

Consequently, learning grammar becomes easier once the teacher acquire the necessary linguistic background in his academic training in addition of the ability of designing the new appropriate pedagogical tools.

The article presents practical pedagogic suggestions for teaching tense so that the learner can understand and learn Arabic language and compare with other languages.
