Abstract EN

This study aims at exploring the availability of Assistive technology for children with reading and writing difficulties in the primary public school sources in Jeddah.

To achieve this objective, descriptive survey methodology was adopted by the researcher.

It included a questionnaire, which helps measure the availability of assistive technologies.

The questionnaire is divided into three main dimensions: Reading and Writing in general, Reading and Writing in particular.

Study’s sample manifested in all learning disability parameters in public schools in Jeddah, and was chosen using the Complete Census method.

The study reached a number of results, the most important of which are: The availability of assistive technologies for children with reading and writing difficulties in general, in the primary public school sources in Jeddah, from teachers’ point of view reached (65%) placing it in the first place, while writing in particular reached (51%), and reading in particular reached (47%), placing them second and third respectively.

The most important recommendations are: Spreading awareness among schools, and their leaders, regarding the importance of providing assistive technologies for children with learning difficulties, as well as introducing teachers to such assistive technologies, and provide the necessary training on how these technologies can be used.
